SAJES publishes a Mitzvah Bank. We hope that it inspires and encourages everyone in our community to fulfill the mitzvah of tikkun olam, repairing the world. We believe that providing these resources, projects, ideas and support, and linking teachers, students, families and groups with chesed (kindness) projects provides meaningful experiences and strengthens our entire community.
This Mitzvah Bank will direct you to numerous volunteer opportunities for children, teenagers, adults and groups. It is organized by area of interest, with each page dedicated to one specific agency or organization. It also breaks down the year month by month, listing holidays and national awareness months, to give organizers a reference point and connection to larger national events.
The Mitzvah Bank has a separate section for B’nai Mitzvah volunteer opportunities for students and families who wish to incorporate a chesed / tzedakah component into their Bar or Bat Mitzvah celebration.
The Mitzvah Bank is a continual work in progress; we are happy to send you periodic updates as we identify new projects and resources. It will soon be available online. Teachers, principals, family educators, students and parents are welcome to visit SAJES offices to view copies of the Mitzvah Bank. Please contact Beth Finger for further information on mitzvah opportunities, and if you would like to join our chesed list serve for up-to-the-minute community service ideas and new resources.
Check back here often for listings of mitzvah opportunities available throughout this community.
